Our indigo-dyed fabric is made in Africa from 100% cotton. Indigo dye comes from a plant with green leaves, ground to a powder, left to dry for 3 days, and combined with a water and hardwood ash solution. The designs are typically made with a resist-dying technique, fabric is soaked in the dye for a couple days, and hung to dry. Our mudcloth is purchased from a USA importer that directly supports craftsman and orphanages in Africa.
