Capri Carrier Materials
*Several safety reinforcement stitches have been thoughtfully included in the instructions, along with durable material recommendations, to ensure strength and longevity.
FABRIC:
Main - 1/2 yd (1/2 m)
Lining - 1/2 yd (1/2 m)
Batting - 1/2 yd (1/2 m)
Fusible Interfacing: 1 yd (1 m) (Optional for lightweight fabric or or stretchy, fraying curved edges)*
Woven, soft, organic, non-stretch fabrics are ideal for this project. Comfort and durability is key for the kiddos! Having a different fabric and/or color for the lining than the main/outer fabric will help orient the carrier when donning.
Main fabric suggestions:
Lightweight (beginner) - linen, lightweight cotton canvas, twill, quilting cottons
Heavyweight (intermediate/advanced) - midweight denim, midweight upholstery, thin pre-quilted fabric
Lining fabric suggestions:
Lightweight, breathable material - linen, quilting cotton, cotton muslin, cotton flannel, bamboo fibers
If you feel comfortable, you can customize whether the main, lining, or both have batting/thickness.
WEBBING:
Width - 2” (5 cm)
Length - Cut 2, 18“ (45.7 cm) straps
Overall circumference of the carrier will be 44”-60” (112 cm - 152.4 cm) using the suggested measurement. The maximum circumference does not include 12” (30cm) of suggested slack for donning. Add extra length if needed. It’s better to have more webbing than needed and cut length off once you’ve completed the project.
